Group Rule to Prevent Auto-Coding Psychotherapy

Group Rule to Prevent Auto-Coding Psychotherapy

If you want to prevent ICANotes from auto-coding from the therapy area, this is possible. First, let's take a look at how auto-coding works.

When you go into 'Therapy - see list' and generate content.

Click Continue on the first screen.

You need to add time to this area. Three time periods listed (16-37, 38-52, and 52+) are recognized by the psychotherapy with E/M codes and will add.

Click Continue to return to the work area. You will see under service code that a new code has been entered.

As a provider, you may not want the system to do this. A Security Administrator can stop this from occurring.

Instructions For Security Administrator:

1. As a Security Administrator, go to the 'Settings & Directories' drawer.

2. Access the Security Center from Settings & Directories.

  1. Click the Security Center button on the bottom and a popup window will appear asking for your password.
  2. Enter your ICANotes password.
  3. Click the OK button.

3. Click the Group Rules button.

4. Disable Auto-Code Psychotherapy.

  1. Go to the Defaults tab and look under Group Actions Disabled: for actions that are normally enabled.
  2. Click the box to check 'Auto-Code Psychotherapy' to disable auto-coding.
  3. Don't forget to log off and log back on for the change to take effect.
