"Signature on File" not to print CMS 1500

If self pay is set in the demographics, the "signature on file" will not print on the CMS 1500 in Box 12.  The "signature on file" was removed from self-pay patients.

 

When a doctor's office does not accept insurance, they may print the CMS 1500 out so that the patient can submit to their insurance provider.  If the "signature on file" is on the CMS 1500 form, then the payment goes to the doctor's office and not the patient (even though the patient submitted the form).  

 

To set a patient to self pay, follow these steps:

1. Pull up the patient from the chart room. 
   
2. ​From the Chart Face, select Demographics tab.
   
3. In the Demographics window, select the Insurance Information tab.
   
4. Select Self Pay.
