Unique Email Address and Security Questions

Unique Email Address and Security Questions

When a user logs in that does not have a unique email address or has incomplete security questions, they will be prompted to add in a unique email address and/or complete security questions.

This is an example of the prompt at login. This user does not have a unique email.

  1. Users can bypass changing anything by clicking the  button on the right. This message will appear five times before the user must make the changes to correct the incomplete security information issue.
  2. Users can change the email address and verify the email address is unique by clicking the  button. If you encounter issues with the uniqueness of your email address - such as if it is already associated with another login - you can utilize an email "alias" by adding "+1" or "+icanotes" to the address. For example: If the email address you@gmail.com is not unique, use an alias such as you+1@gmail.com. While the ICANotes system will view this as a unique email address, emails sent to this address will still be received at you@gmail.com. Note: email aliases do not work for all email domains. For more detailed information, refer to our Knowledge Base article on creating email aliases in Gmail, Yahoo mail, Outlook, iCloud and Hotmail.
  3. The  button will pull security questions and answers from the Upload Site if available (the questions and answers would have been done previously from the Upload Site).
  4. The  button will clear all previous answers, allowing the user can input new ones.
  5. The user can choose new security questions from the dropdown menu by each question.
  6. The user can click the  button to leave the session.

The same window shown above is available in Settings and Directories by any user by clicking My Security Info.

Security Administrators can log into the Security Center and reset security questions for users. The Security Administrator will not see the questions, they are only able to reset.
